Giny’s Diving Story
Giny has always been a traveller at heart. Embarking on her first 18-month solo adventure in 1998, she was enchanted by the mesmerising archipelago of 17,500 islands known as Indonesia. During her 4 months exploring this beautiful country, she took her first breath underwater in the Togian Islands of Sulawesi. It was love at first bubble. Giny spent the rest of her travels exploring the magic of the underwater world around Sulawesi until a lack of funds drove her back to Europe. Returning home, she had only one thought in her mind, to ‘work hard, save and go again’.
In 2001, Giny headed back to Asia to immerse herself in the yogic teachings of India. Chance landed her on a Thai island for a week while she waited for a visa. A week turned into over 3 years, where she met an inspiring team of who supported her all the way up to instructor level and beyond. After gaining experience teaching in Thailand, Mexico and Honduras, Giny missed the archipelago nation that stole her heart. She headed back to the Gili Islands in Indonesia, a favourite from her first trip, but this time as a dive professional. Under the mentorship of PADI Course Director Sander Buis, Giny worked up to Course Director where she continues to inspire others to become stuck on their own paradise island!
